As of 03/23/2020 Governor Gretchen Witmer and Governor Tony Evers have announced “Stay-At-Home” orders.
What this means for our retail location is that we are closing our stores, but we will still be accepting donations.We ask that anyone dropping donations off please use the provided equipment at our donor doors to help us facilitate taking donations with as minimal a staff as possible.
As the COVID-19 situation changes, our plans may too. In the meantime, continue reaching out through our digital channels, and checking our facebook page, and website for updates.
MARQUETTE, MI – January 28, 2019 – Goodwill of Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan is proud to announce new programming for people with disabilities, opening February 4th. Called POSSIBILITIES, it will be a program to provide enriching experiences for those 18 and older.
Goodwill Volunteers help make the possibilities endless.
Possibilities can serve participants who are looking for daytime activities and structured community-based groups as well as those who want to learn how to have a job or have community integrated employment already. The services will include, but are not limited to, Community Access, Job Exploration, Leisure and Recreation, Health and Wellness, and Functional Social Skills. This program encourages its participants to exercise self-determination and choice.

Marquette, MI – January 28, 2019 – Area 36 of the Special Olympics of Michigan is proud to announce the commencement of their annual UP Winter Games on Saturday, January 5th. The schedule is below.
We will have athletes from all parts of the U.P. competing in Snowshoe, Cross Country Skiing, Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, and Figure Skating. Please come out to Rippling River Resort and Marquette Mountain to watch the athletes showcase their talents starting with opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at Rippling River Resort.
We are also in need of several volunteers to help run the cross country and snowshoe events. If you are interested in helping with these events, please area36@somi.org.

Marquette, MI – May 25, 2018 – Goodwill and Comprenew, in partnership with Superior Watershed Partnership and the DEQ, will be hosting an Electronic Recycling Event at the Marquette Public Works Building, 1100 Wright Street, on Saturday June 2nd. A partial list of items that will be accepted include: cell phones computer monitors, copy machines, cordless phones, fax machines, laptop computers, keyboards and mice, microwave ovens, printers, scanners, stereo equipment, televisions, and VCR and DVD players. Please go to our website at gwnwup.com or comprenew.org for a complete list of acceptable items. This collection on June 2nd will be free of charge to the donors. The hours of the collection are Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
This is the second of several collections that will occur throughout the summer. More details will be forthcoming on these events.

Goodwill and Comprenew have teamed up on electronic recycling!
Goodwill is one of the original partakers in recycling, diverting gently used items from the landfill into the hands of people who want them. The revenue from donations pays the employees who live in the community, pay taxes, and consume local goods. We now add Electronic recycling to that mission.
Comprenew is a DEQ registered and nationally certified electronics recycler, based in Grand Rapids, MI. Comprenew strives to demonstrate that people who traditionally have barriers to employment can perform at the highest standards given the right training and environment. Comprenew operates three social programs that improve access to information technology, provide work experience, and offer service learning programs for corporations, community groups, and schools
The Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP) is a Great Lakes non-profit organization serving the communities of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, and Lake Huron). The mission of the SWP is to protect and improve the natural resources of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on a watershed basis by promoting responsible individual and community actions that ensure a sustainable environment, encourage a sustainable economy, and help improve the quality of life.

Marquette, MI – April 23, 2018 – Goodwill of Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan (Goodwill NWUM) is pleased to announce a joint venture with Comprenew of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to provide proper electronics recycling services to people in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin.
This agreement builds on the strength of Goodwill of Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan (Goodwill NWUM), one of 155 independent Goodwill organizations, and Comprenew, Michigan’s only e-Stewards certified company, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the only non-profit electronic recycler and refurbisher in the world certified to both the e-Stewards and R2 standards.. By partnering together, Goodwill NWUM and Comprenew are able to expand electronics recycling and refurbishing services to the area through the development of retail stores and e-waste drop-off locations. Goodwill NWUM currently operates six retail stores and two training centers covering the territory, along with a logistical collection fleet. Comprenew will be able to use Goodwill NWUM’s existing infrastructure to keep cost affordable and service efficient for the community.

Goodwill NWUM and Comprenew have a shared mission to provide job opportunities to people who experience barriers to long-term employment, which makes for a perfect partnership opportunity to expand into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin.
Goodwill NWUM President and CEO, Jim Borowski, states, “we are excited to announce this partnership to bring not only responsible electronic waste recycling to the area, but also continue our mission of taking donated goods to help fund programs for those with barriers to employment.
